Add a client device
Configure a client device to allow the deployment of FactoryTalk Optix Applications over the network.

From the main toolbar, next to
Run, select the client dropdown menu.

(optional) In Client device settings, to display only the active remote client devices, toggle
Active remote devices.
Tip: Refresh remote client devices by selectingRefresh.

Select either:
- A folder and select
.
- A FactoryTalk® Remote Access™ device and select
to add a device accessible from the selected FactoryTalk Remote Access device network.

(optional) In Name, edit the name of the target device.
Important: Only alphanumeric characters are allowed in the name.
- In IP Address, enter the IP address of the target device.

In Username, enter the name of the user to log on to the target device.
- Windows® username

A system username:
-
DOMAIN\username, for domain users.

.username, for local users on domain-joined devices.
-
username, for local users on devices that do not belong to a domain.

- Linux username
-
An administrator username.
Important: A password must be configured for the user on the target device. -
(optionaI) Destination Path, enter the path on the target device to deploy the application.
Tip: The default deployment destination path is %localappdata%. Defining a custom path is useful when the C:\ partition of the client device is write-protected.Note: You can deploy only one project. Therefore, any application previously deployed to Destination Path removes the path in the default destination, and any application previously deployed to the default destination removes the Destination Path.Note: Destination Path is only for Windows client devices running FactoryTalk Optix as an application. Destination Path is not supported when deploying FactoryTalk Optix running as a service.

(optional) Select Encrypt project on device to encrypt the deployed project on the target device.

(optional) Select Download source project on device to download the source project on the target device.
Tip: Downloading the source project on the target device enables you to upload the source project from the target device to the development computer later on. For more information, see Open a project.
- Choose Select to select the target client device.
